Oregon stories

Beginning in 2004, I worked for the Portland Tribune, which was then a large twice-weekly paper covering the second of my hometowns. We competed with — and often beat — The Oregonian and others, which was wonderful fun for me. I covered crime and justice against at least six or seven people at The O who had some piece of my job. The victories were sweet. Working on the small staff at the Trib allowed me to take risks I couldn’t have elsewhere and to work more closely with the people around me. I learned the most and grew the most working there. It is where I found my voice and affirmed my calling.

You left the Trib at the right time. I wouldn’t be surprised if it folds at some point.

    Good luck!
